Approving Agencies: Rocky View County and Alberta Transportation. 

Scopes of work and project deliveries - Development Site Servicing Plans (DSSP) Design including Site Grading, Underground Utility, Stormwater Management, Erosion & Sediment Control / Management and Construction Management Plans; Roadway Widening and Intersection Improvement Design; Traffic Signing and Pavement Marking Design as well as Traffic Accommodation Strategy (TAS) for Roadway Construction.


The challenges, the unique features and the project deliveries including but not limited to:

  1. Master Drainage Plan’s stringent requirements on the stormwater release rate of 0.99 l/s/ha
  2. SSSMP design to incorporate on-site underground stormwater storage tanks
  3. The challenge in the design of the site grading due to the existing steep grade on-site   
  4. The design of Highway 1A and Bearspaw Road signalized intersection improvements along with the Traffic Accommodation Strategy (TAS) for the roadway improvements
  5. The roadway widening of Township Road 254A adjacent to the signalized intersection on provincial highway  

Castlegar River Estate Development Infrastructure Designs

Project Details and Tasks Completed

Castlegar River Estate is a Residential Development to be located on Lot 2 DL 4598 Plan 6957 Except Part included in Plan 8427 and to include a total of 32 duplexes in Castlegar, British Columbia.  The Civil Engineering design tasks completed to obtain development permit (DP) included the following:


Stormwater Management

1.      Pre-development model to determine existing discharge into minor system

2.     Post-development model to restrict at pre-development rate

3. Review of the City requirements per MMCD platinum latest edition

4. Prepare storm plans showing minor and major system

5. Analysis of ponding extents, volumes and summarize calculations 


Development Site Servicing Plan (DSSP)

6. Gathering requirements for gas, electrical and communication services from respective sources to review utility conflicts

7. Review of the City requirements per MMCD platinum latest editions

8. Development Site Servicing Plan (DSSP) preparation and design


Site Grading

9. Grading of Lot

10. Quality assurance / quality check (QA/QC) of lot grading to match storm design requirements

Project was completed in 2019 and DP approval was obtained from the City of Castlegar.

DSSP and Stormwater Design for Proposed 711-5 Street NE

4-Plex Development, Calgary, Alberta.

Tasks completed for this project were the preparation of a Development Site Servicing Plan (DSSP) design and Stormwater Management Design plans for the proposed development. Here is a summary of what was completed:

A. Stormwater Management

1. Gathered requirements and available related plans

2. Reviewed requirements, applicable stormwater management plan / requirements of City of Calgary

3. Prepared Pre-development – Stormwater management assessment

4. Prepared Post-development – Stormwater management assessment

5. Analyzed and summarized calculations for integrated Stormwater management

6. Prepared tables / calculations for plans

7. QA/QC of lot grading by others to match storm design requirements

8. Responded to City’s comments to obtain approval


B. Detailed Site Servicing Plan (DSSP)

9. Gathered requirements for existing utilities, water and sanitary

10. Completed Site Servicing Plan for 4 units and sizing

11. Prepared Site Servicing Plan (proposed utilities) integrated.

Proposed 574 East Chestermere Drive Development, Chestermere

Project Details and Completed Tasks

The proposed development will be on Lot 10, Block 6, Plan 2931 and will consist of 4 houses with one of them already existing. The completed tasks included the following:

  

A. Stormwater Management

1. Gathered requirements and available related plans

2. Reviewed requirements, applicable stormwater management plan / requirements of City of Chestermere

3. Prepared the Pre-development – Stormwater management assessment

4. Prepared thePost-development – Stormwater management assessment

5. Completed the design of concrete stormwater overland drains through easements / portions of other lots

6. Analyzed and summarized calculations for integrated Stormwater management

7. Prepared storm plans through easements 

8. Prepared stormwater report figures

9. Prepared stormwater management report

10. Responded to City’s comments

B. Detailed Site Servicing Plan (DSSP)

11. Gathering requirements – existing utilities, water and sanitary

12. Site Servicing Plan (existing utilities)

13. Site Servicing Plan (proposed utilities) through easements to East Chestermere Drive.
